As a Canadian, I was shocked to learn that in Canada, a 16-year-old could get married, even though they are not allowed to vote, legally own property, or have credit cards.

Canada is leading international initiatives to eradicate child marriage. Despite these efforts, the practice is still legally recognized within its borders. A recent McGill University study revealed that from 2000 to 2018, over 3,600 minors, predominantly girls, were legally married in Canada.

I have started this project, to promote and protect the rights of children. It’s a work in progress, so I will continue to add new images here.
